Square Planter | Anio
Description
Anio is a square planter with a roughly square outline and inward-curving sides. Its upper and lower edges flare outward, while fine vertical lines bend across the narrowed middle to create an undulating surface.
The corners and side profiles give the design different appearances as you move around it. From one angle, the body looks sharply architectural; from another, the repeated lines resemble a gathered or stretched surface. The distinctive shape comes from the relationship between the broad edges and the recessed waist. The form makes Anio a sculptural planter that can hold its place in an arrangement even before the plant fills out; this sculpture planter keeps the container part of the composition.
Place Anio at an angle if you want both the corner geometry and the curved sides to show. Soft, branching foliage provides a contrast to its square footprint. Keep the surrounding arrangement simple so the changing silhouette and closely spaced lines remain easy to read. In a group of indoor house plant pots, leave a little space around Anio; unique plant pots need enough room for their individual outlines to show. For a collection of unique planters, keep the planting simple enough for the shape to show; unusual plant pots work best when their defining details remain visible.
For the Outdoor finish, choose a blue planter to coordinate with similar accents, or a green planter to change the contrast around the same sculpted form. Select the hole-and-tray option for a plant pot with saucer, matching the plant pot and saucer combination to the surface where it will be displayed.
